The problem for chefs looking for work is that the vast majority of people who hire us know nothing about what we do on daily basis.
Making it all worse are the ‘Celebrity’ Chef influence on our industry; not only is it ludicrous that Leading Culinary Academys offer courses to teach you to be a TV “Personality”; these personalities once achieved feel no shame in growing the myth that they are actually ‘Chefs’!!
Of Course there are Celebrity Chefs out there that are actually accomplished experts and kudos to them for their success but they too enhance the challenge for the “Studio Musician Chef”; you know; the ones that write and perform the actual art that the Rock Stars “play”!!
Rock Star Chefs like Gordon Ramsey (accomplished chef) have team leaders that are merely “Beatles Cover Bands” compared to the Chef who has spent time in numerous professional kitchens under numerous challenges and scenarios. (myself over 35 different kitchens; most as the leader).
